Yay to Spring finally arriving and sunshine and warm and fresh breezes. To herbs growing and grass being cut and to extra eggs from the chickens. To the snowball bush blooms and the perfume from the lilacs and the lovely independent columbines. To the cherry blossoms that line our little park down the hill.
And to The Gentleman – for keeping the grass mowed, the chickens fed and the refrigerator clean – and for bringing a hammock to the household. We love the hammock. And it broke on the first sunny day. So we made a new one – I actually busted out my gorgeous sewing machine for the first time since I’ve owned my home – and we sewed up some outdoor canvas and voila! We have had some sunny afternoons on the hammock. Yay to Spring.
Oh, looking at these pictures make me think of spring when I was a girl–and for me that is all about FLOWERS!! and the scents!! I’d forgotten about the snowball bush. We had a verbena, one of my all-time favorites. Conveniently, I’ve had a bush die in my new yard–and I am planting a lovely, very fragrant, lilac. And I’ve been thinking about a spot for a hammock ever since the hint earlier of your hammock-making–hmm–where could it go? But I must really thank you on this Mother’s Day. These spring flowers always make me think of mom. Miss her.
